Tubing Tygon® PTFE & FEP

There are different types of hoses and different compounds with which they are manufactured. The material from which they are made has to do with their chemical, thermal and mechanical resistance. The selection of the proper material is very important depending on what chemicals are going to be used in the hoses. Tetraflon® offers a wide variety of hoses made of compounds with very high chemical and thermal resistance.

Tygon®

Tygon is a brand name for a family of flexible tubing consisting of a variety of base materials. Tygon is a registered trademark of Saint-Gobain Corporation. It is a word invented, owned and used by Saint-Gobain and originated in the late 1930s. Tygon products are produced in three countries, but are sold worldwide. Tygon tubing is used in many markets, including food and beverage, chemical processing, industrial, laboratory, medical, pharmaceutical, and semiconductor processing. There are many formulations of clear, flexible, Tygon tubing. Chemical resistance and physical properties vary between different formulations, but pipe is generally considered "so resistant to chemical attack that it will handle virtually any chemical" whether liquid, gas, or in suspension.

Types of Hoses

Corrugated PTFE Hoses

PTFE, FEP and PFA corrugated hoses are made with rings to prevent for tight routings.

Smooth Bore Hoses

PTFE, FEP and FPA smooth bore hoses speed up the flow and allow chemical resistance of the manufacturing material.

Convoluted PTFE Tubing

Convoluted hoses are PTFE, FEP or PFA hoses that are spiral formed to reduce collapsing when bending these hoses. The main advantage of this hose is that it allows a continuous flow along it, preventing areas of stagnant flow and improving its cleaning.

Braided Hoses

These three types of hoses can be covered by a weave to improve their mechanical resistance and resistance to handling damage. The covers can be of various types and are recommended for the medium in which the hose will be working:
  • Polypropylene
  • Nickel Plated Steel
  • Stainless Steel
  • Polypropylene
  • Kynar®
  • P.E.E.K®
  • Kevlar®
  • Elastomers
